Ann Wauters
Ann is an icon in international women’s basketball. Few athletes have matched her impressive track record. She won the EuroLeague four times, the EuroCup once, twelve national titles and a WNBA championship. On top of that, she was named European Player of the Year five times.
With the national team, she earned a bronze medal at the European Championships and retired as captain at the Tokyo Olympics. Ann knows better than anyone what it means to work in a team. Every season, she had to start from scratch with teammates from different backgrounds, building cohesion and striving for results in a highly competitive environment.
She has successfully made the transition off the court and now coaches teams within organisations. With passion and authenticity, she shares her experiences and highlights the strong parallels between the world of elite sport and the business world.
“After more than 20 years playing basketball around the globe in a wide range of teams, I want to share what I’ve learnt about successful collaboration and becoming a high-performing team. My aim is to create space for people to be the best version of themselves and to inspire and motivate them in facing their challenges.”
Ann was elected president of the BOIC’s athlete committee and has coached two summer seasons in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky. She also founded the mentorship programme Assists.be, helping to preserve the valuable experience of top athletes and guide young talent towards their full potential.
